What to Expect

What to Expect

Common Questions often asked before attending Lakeland Church!

1. What do I have to do?

The only thing we ask you to do is to relax. You are with people just like you. Whether you have been to Church many times or never been to Church before, you can anticipate a welcoming, encouraging and enlightening experience.

2. What are your Worship Services Like?

At each service at Lakeland Church, you’ll find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with blend of contemporary and traditional worship music and a practical, relevant message. You’ll also find a printed outline for notes in your bulletin that will help you make the most of each week’s teaching. Children are welcome and a nursery is provided.

3. What Happens when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for awhile—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.

4.  What do I wear to attend your services?

You’ll find everything from casual clothes to dress clothes at our Worship Services. Come in what is comfortable for you, because Lakeland is not about what you look like or what you wear. You are most importantly, just you, and you are welcome.

5.  Where are you located?

Lakeland Church is located near Smith Mountain Lake in the Bedford County area of Virginia. For more detailed information, visit our location page.

6. Do you have a midweek service?

We are in the phase of a “New Beginning with God” in developing our ministries and presently do not have a midweek service. We are exploring new possibilities which focuses on midweek worship and Bible study.  We do have seasonal and occasional special midweek services that get posted on our calendar of events.

7. What about Children?

At Lakeland Church children are welcome. We offer a nursery that is clean, safe, and overseen with loving workers. We are in the phase of a “New Beginning with God” in exploring the development of our children ministries.

8.  How can I be discipled and grow?

Our desire is to see you become a fully-devoted follower of Christ. Our Growth Steps offers the teaching and tools necessary to make this happen in your life. You are invited to join others in the journey to learn more about the life of our church, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith.
